Abstract
Dr. Navid Shehzad holds a diverse ground when it comes to his penchant for Punjabi literature. He is a poet, a researcher and a critic. What makes him iconoclastic is his identity as a trend-setter on the modern tapestry of Punjabi poetry. Unlike his contemporary poets, his poems entail universality, as his poetry doesn’t advocate any literary movement or a mandate. Through his poems, he projects life with a holistic prism embedded in totality. The creme-de-la-creme poems of Dr. Shehzad highlight his nonpareil knack for neologism, giving new meanings to the words, and repetition of words. Moreover, the multifarious facets of his poems also include political, social and economic awareness and inhuman and callous human behaviors. Stylistically, there is a confluence of formal verse, free verse and prose-poetry in his anthology that is quite a feat that he has achieved.
